He was a docent for the Collier Automotive Museum in Naples, Florida and for the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation. His first wife having died in Middlebury in 1830, Crosby married a second time, to Elizabeth Brackett in 1832. He began as a young man teaching school.
